One of my favourite activities at a Japanese-style accommodation is getting into an Onsen or an Ofuro after a long tiring day, and then finishing off on a foot massage machine. I was never the sort of guest who made use of every facility at a hotel; furthermore, pampering myself is hardly the first thing on my mind, but I was bored one night and decided to give the foot machine a go. Frankly, it's not the best feeling in the world. The initial sensation was slightly painful and uncomfortable, but I gradually got used to it and even liked the pressure.
I spent some nights getting my feet pressed by a machine while thinking of people, and life.

This evening, I got my feet massaged by an actual professional and now I understand why women spend lavishly on massages.
The first photo is breathtaking. I mean, it seems like this house is somewhere all alone and I wonder who lives there and how quiet it must be (apart from the wind playing in the trees).
ReplyDeleteI didn't know there was something like a foot machine on this earth but apparently there is. It sounds odd to me. But as long as it offered you the opportunity to think of various things and maybe also to relax a bit, it is a wonderful thing.
(The song is so magical by the way.)
Yes, I'm curious of lone houses in the woods too. There was a particular log house that the train I was on went past, and I was so captured by it. It looked empty yet so very new and well kept, it could be a little getaway home for a wanderer and the idea of that was so nice and comforting to me.
DeleteHaha, it is quite an odd looking machine actually. I've always been quite skeptical about massage chairs and the like. So when I first tried it out, I imagined the foot machine crushing my bones, or tightening up so tensely on my calf that it would burst a blood vessel. But it wasn't so bad, at least it gave me some quiet time. :) xx
